Bioplastics

Bioplastics are considered to be those materials whose beginning or end of life can be driven by more sustainable practices.

Bioplastics are considered to be those materials whose beginning or end of life can be achieved through more sustainable actions.

That is, not all bioplastics are biodegradable, and not all biodegradable plastics are from renewable sources.

Within bioplastics, we have several classifications such as:

From renewable sources and NON-biodegradable, in the cases of PE, PET, PA, and PTT from renewable sources.
From renewable sources and biodegradable, such as PLA, PHA, PBS, and starch blends.
From fossil sources and biodegradable, such as PBAT and PCL.

APTA works with PLA in its portfolio, classified as a biopolymer from renewable sources, biodegradable and compostable.
